What we collect, and why.

The short version: this site collects what you type into the contact form and what you choose to put on the wall. Nothing else. No cookies, no trackers, no analytics.

The contact form

When you send us a message we keep your name, email address, the message itself, and your browser's user-agent string, which helps us tell a real enquiry from automated spam. We use it for one thing: replying to you and following up on the conversation you started. We do not sell it, share it outside Gateway Communications, or add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.

The wall

The homepage has a wall you can draw a mark on. If you use it, we keep the drawing, and the name and line you choose to add, and we publish all three on the wall for anyone visiting the site to see. Treat it as public: do not put anything there you would not want read by a stranger. We also keep a one-way hash of your IP address and your user-agent string, purely to stop one person flooding the wall.

Signing is optional and anonymous unless you type a name. If you want your mark taken down, email us and it goes, usually the same day.

How long we keep it

Enquiries stay only as long as they are useful to the conversation. Marks on the wall stay up until you ask us to remove them. To have either deleted, email luke@gway.co.za.

Where it is stored

Submissions and wall marks are stored in a Supabase database that only our own server-side functions can read or write. Enquiry notifications are sent to us by email through Postmark. This site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs. That is the full list of anyone who touches your data.

Cookies, trackers and your browser

This site sets no cookies and runs no third-party analytics or trackers. It stores exactly one thing in your browser, a flag remembering that you have already seen the opening animation, and that is cleared the moment you close the tab. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which sees the request for the font files but nothing about who you are.

Your rights

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email luke@gway.co.za and we will do it, or tell you why we cannot, within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied you can take it up with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
